So Friday was the "conference proper" - seven talks and a plethora of 'introducers'.  Sometimes 'introducers' introducing chair people who then introduced the speakers.  What a lot of different faces/different voices.

I wrote yesterday about the one day workshop I went to with David Barlow introducing "Unified protocol for the treatment of emotional disorders".  David described an eight module sequence for anxiety, depression and potentially other problems too:

1.) Motivation enhancement for treatment engagement (1/2 to 1 session).
2.) Psychoeducation & treatment rationale (1 to 3 sessions).
3.) Emotional awareness training (1 to 3 sessions).
4.) Cognitive appraisal & reappraisal (1 to 2 sessions).
5.) Emotion driven behaviours & emotional avoidance (1 to 3 sessions).
6.) Awareness & tolerance of physical sensations (1 session).

Just off the sleeper.  Slept like a baby - well maybe better, knowing some babies.  Now it's two days of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies (BABCP) Spring Workshops and Conference.  Today it's workshops and we have a choice of half a dozen or so.  I've plumped for David Barlow's "Unified protocol for the treatment of emotional disorders".  The publicity reads:

I read a lot of research.  When I find an article of particular interest I download it to my bibliographic database - EndNote - which currently contains over 15,700 abstracts.

I've already written a couple of blog posts on the short day workshop I'm running early next month - "Psychotherapy & positive psychology: why psychotherapists should pay attention" and "Psychotherapy & positive psychology: the assessment dashboard".  On the day itself I plan to start with a little background on what positive psychology is and how it has developed, then comment on why it's so relevant for psychotherapists, discuss assessment issues, and finally give examples by introducing three areas - self-determination theory, positive emotions, and self-compassion.
